Getting Started How to Use Microsoft Editor in Word
Microsoft Editor, integrated within Word for Microsoft 365, analyzes your documents to offer suggestions for improved writing. It helps with spelling, grammar, clarity, conciseness, and formality.
To begin, simply navigate to the 'Home' tab and select 'Editor'. Alternatively, use the F7 key. The Editor pane will appear, displaying identified issues and potential improvements.
Reviewing and Implementing Suggestions
To focus on specific areas, such as grammar or clarity, choose a correction or refinement type from the Editor pane. Use the arrows to navigate through each issue of that type.
Click a suggestion to implement it directly into your document. If you're not fond of a suggestion, select 'Ignore Once'. For repeated issues, choose 'Stop checking for this' to prevent future suggestions of that type.
Customization Tailoring Editor to Your Writing Style
By default, Editor checks for various issue categories. To tailor suggestions to your specific writing style, access the Editor pane and choose 'Grammar' in the 'Corrections' section.
In the Grammar dialog, select 'More options (the ellipses (…))', then 'Customize suggestions'. You can then select the issues you want Editor to check and deselect those you want to ignore. Clicking 'Reset to default' reverts to the standard settings.
