Introduction Understanding 2-Step Verification for PlayStation Network

2-Step Verification (2SV) is a crucial security measure for your PlayStation Network account, adding an extra layer of protection. However, issues can arise if you lose access to your phone or backup codes. This guide provides clear steps to regain access to your account.

We'll cover how to use backup codes, set up passkeys for a more secure sign-in, and what to do if you don't have backup codes. We'll also address common problems like not receiving verification codes and signing in on Google TV.

Backup Recovering Your Account with 2SV Codes

If you saved your 2SV backup codes when you set up 2SV, recovering your account is straightforward. These codes are a lifeline when you can't access your primary verification method (like your phone).

To use a backup code, go to Account Management and select 'Trouble Receiving Code?' > 'Sign In Using a Backup Code.' Enter one of your 10 unique codes and verify. Each code can only be used once, so use them wisely.

If you've used most of your backup codes, you can generate new ones by temporarily disabling and then re-enabling 2SV.

Passkeys Enhanced Security with

Passkeys offer a faster and more secure way to sign in to your PlayStation Network account. They use your device's built-in security features (like fingerprint or facial recognition) instead of passwords and codes.

To set up a passkey, navigate to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Sign In. Follow the prompts to register a passkey on your device. This eliminates the need for codes altogether on compatible devices.

Passkeys offer a seamless and more secure way to access your PlayStation Network account.
