Troubleshooting What if Visual Voicemail is Unavailable?

If your carrier's voicemail app is active, the Phone app's visual voicemail might be disabled to avoid conflicts.

To re-enable visual voicemail within the Phone app: Open the Phone app, tap 'More options', select 'Settings' -> 'Voicemail', and then turn on 'Visual voicemail'.

For multiple SIMs, enable visual voicemail for each SIM in the Phone app's settings.

If you switched phones and notifications are missing, contact your carrier to ensure basic voicemail service is set up and check your voicemail settings.

Transcription Voicemail

Voicemail transcription converts your audio messages into text.

Transcription availability depends on your mobile carrier or device. Transcripts are typically available for carriers such as: Charter—Verizon, Comcast—Xfinity, Freedom, O2, T-Mobile—Pixel, Tracfone—T-Mobile and Verizon, and Visible—Verizon.

Voicemail transcription is generally available in English and Spanish (Android 8.0 and up).

To enable, go to Phone app > More options > Settings > Voicemail and turn on 'Voicemail transcription'.
