New Outlook Understanding the Toggle in for Windows

The new Outlook for Windows features a convenient toggle at the top right. This toggle controls the redirection behavior between the new and classic Outlook versions.

When enabled, attempting to launch classic Outlook or Windows Mail will automatically open the new Outlook. This migration ensures your accounts and settings are preserved.

Going Back Returning to Classic Outlook

If you've switched from classic to new Outlook, launching classic Outlook will redirect you to the new version. To go back, use the toggle within the new Outlook app.

Clicking the toggle presents two options: 'Switch back to classic Outlook' (and provide feedback) and 'Use classic Outlook this time.' The latter is useful for quick comparisons or specific tasks.

Seamless switching enhances productivity by giving you instant access to the Outlook version you need.

Troubleshooting Toggle Issues and Redirection

If the toggle is missing, ensure classic Outlook is installed. Refer to support documentation for installation instructions.

If issues persist, verify you're launching classic Outlook from the Windows Start Menu (look for 'Outlook (classic)' in the app list).

Alternatively, modify the Windows Registry to force the use of the classic Outlook by navigating to: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Preferences and changing 'UseNewOutlook' value to '0'.
