The Problem Assigning Points in Microsoft Forms

Many users are seeking a way to award partial credit in Microsoft Forms quizzes and tests, especially when questions have multiple correct answers. The standard functionality often requires all correct answers to be selected for any points to be awarded.

This presents a challenge when you want to give credit for partially correct responses. For example, if a question has 10 correct answers out of 15 options, selecting only 7 of the 10 correctly often results in zero points, which is not ideal.

Current Limitations What Microsoft Forms Offers

Currently, Microsoft Forms does not natively support the feature of assigning different points to individual choices within a multiple-choice question in the way requested.

The system operates on an all-or-nothing basis for point allocation within a single question. This means that unless all the correct options are selected, no points will be given for that particular question.

Possible Workarounds Exploring Solutions

One workaround is to create a new 'question' for each of the individual options. This means you would have several single-choice questions that combine to make a single, overall concept. It is of course time-consuming.

Another option is to consider providing feedback, using the insights and comments section to give some feedback based on the responses a student provides.
